Replacement of certain Tamar Valley Trains January and Line Closure on two March weekends

(January 09, 2021)

Two Tamar Valley Line off peak trains are to be replaced by buses Monday to Friday and Saturday starting next Monday, 11th.  All other trains will run as normal.  I have attached an e-mail from Mark Hopwood, MD of GWR to me outlining what is happening and including the bus times.

The two trains are the 10 22 and 14 22 ex Plymouth, 11 14 and 15 14 ex Gunnislake.  Two separate buses will run in their place – one between Plymouth and Calstock, calling at Gunnislake, the other between Plymouth and Bere Ferrers, calling at Bere Alston.   As with engineering works, in Bere Ferrers, the buses will not go to the station but instead will run to and from the Social Club.

GWR are very much hoping that the Tamar Valley Line changes will be short lived and that they will be able to reinstate the trains soon.  When they are in a position to be able to do this, I will let you know.

Looking ahead, the line will be closed on two weekends in March due to engineering works.  These are the 20/21 and 27/28 March and buses will replace trains.

During lockdown, trains are available for key workers, school travel and other essential journeys but leisure travel is prohibited.
